Boston’s Best Preservation Projects
Join us on October 16, 2023, as we celebrate Boston’s outstanding preservation projects. We are excited to host our 35th Annual Preservation Achievement Awards at the Huntington Theatre.

Time: Doors open at 6:00pm. The program will start at 6:30pm. Networking, food, and drinks will follow.
If you can’t use it, you lose it. When we preserve older and historic places, we know they have to be useful for today’s society. History has to be accessible, and that’s what this year’s winning projects are all about. Whether it’s making historical maps available for free and for all online, adding ramps to the backstage of a theatre, sharing untold stories on YouTube, or making historic spaces viable and sustainable for the future, each project makes history more accessible for Bostonians. Each project is useful for sharing the full history of Boston.

Congratulations to our 2023 Preservation Achievement Award recipients!
President's Award for Excellence: Jean Abouhamad and Sea-Dar
The Boston Preservation Alliance is pleased to present our 2023 Susan Park President’s Award for Excellence to Jean Abouhamad, President and Founder of Sea-Dar Construction. A structural engineer and real estate developer, Jean founded the company in 1991 after leaving a successful career with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger. His passion and knowledge have grown the firm throughout the Northeast. Jean has an eye for detail with a focus on restoring historic buildings.
2023 CODMAN AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT: MICHAEL CANNIZZO
The Boston Preservation Alliance is pleased to present our 2023 Codman Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael Cannizzo, whose work in Boston has ensured the preservation and protection of the city’s historic built environment. As a senior architect with extensive experience in design review, his work encompasses restoration, and new construction — all while maintaining a regard for the existing structural landscape.
